Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about using the AINexLayer application
General
What is AINexLayer?
AINexLayer is an AI workspace for documents, connectors, and chat. You upload knowledge, connect tools, and ask questions with cited answers.
Who is it for?
Teams and individuals who want to ask questions over their files and connected systems — support, operations, research, HR docs, and similar knowledge work.
Workspaces & documents
What is a workspace?
A workspace groups documents, chats, connectors, and model settings. Use separate workspaces for separate projects or teams.
What files can I upload?
Common office and text formats (PDF, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, and others supported by the upload pipeline). If a type is rejected, convert to PDF or DOCX.
How long does processing take?
Small text-heavy files are usually ready quickly. Large PDFs, scans, and batches take longer. Wait until the document shows as ready before detailed Q&A.
Chat
How do I chat with a specific file?
Type @, open Files & Folders, and pick the document. Then ask your question.
Why do answers include numbers/citations?
Those are citations. Click them to see the supporting document or URL.
Can I change the AI model?
Yes. Use the model selector in the composer, or Manage models → Workspace settings → Models.
Connectors
What are connectors?
Integrations that give the agent live tools or file import sources. See Connectors.
Do connectors copy all my Slack/Google data?
Live chat connectors query on demand. File import sources index the files you select into the Library. Check each connector page for details.
Models
Where do I add an API key?
Workspace settings → Models (not in chat). Never paste secrets into a conversation.
What is Auto mode?
Auto lets AINexLayer choose an appropriate enabled model for the request. You can still pin a specific model per chat.
